Calendar and Weather Routine:
Every morning we are checking out the calendar. We review what month it is, the date, the day of the week, and the year. Then, we discuss what day of the week it is today, yesterday, and tomorrow. After looking at our calendar, we observe the weather outside with our eyes. We discuss what we see and what we predict the day is going to be like based on our observations.
Months/Days of the Week:
Months: We go over each month and practice saying them. Each month has a picture to accompany it, so we discuss why that picture goes with that month. For example: October has pumpkins. Why does it have pumpkins? Halloween.
Days of the week: We review the days of the week by singing a song.
"Days of the Week" (Tune of "The Addams Family")

Counting
Every day, we are practicing our counting all the way to 100! We do any type of movements while we count to help us remember the numbers and get all the way there. We are also working on counting by fives and tens all the way to 100!
Alphabet
We are continuing to review letters and sounds each day! Be sure to be practicing these at home! We are starting our CVC words and it is VERY important to know the letter sounds in order to make CVC words.
Sight Words
Each week, we will be introducing one or two new words that are our "sight words". These are high frequency words that occur when reading. We will be introducing new words all year long (some weeks we will just have a review). We have learned the first 25 and will start on the next 25 in January!
Words Learned: and, are, as, a, at, be, for, from, he, his, has, I, in, is, it, of, on, to, they, this, the, that, was, with, you
Number Formations
We are practicing writing numbers the correct way. We have poems that we use:
0 - Round and Round like an oval, that's the way we make a zero!
1 - Start at the top and down we run, that's the way we make a one!
2 - Around and back on the railroad track, two two two!
3 - Around a tree, Around a tree, that's the way we make a three!
4 - Down and over and down some more, that's the way we make a four!
5 - Down and around with a flag on high, that's the way we make a five!
6 - Start at the top and slide down quick, loop back up to make a six!
7 - Across the sky then slant that line, makes a seven everytime!
8 - Make an "S" and do not wait, race back up and that's an eight!
9 -Make a loop and then a line, that's the way we make a nine!
10 - Number ten is the hero, first a 1 and then a 0!
